AOF inspires students to fight all odds like Helen Keller to achieve success in their life

NEW DELHI: Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Amway India along with Bhartiya Netraheen Kalyan Parishad (BNKP) celebrated 134th birth anniversary of Helen Keller in New Delhi today. The event is part of nationwide celebrations organized by AOF who has been working for the betterment of visually challenged for more than 15 years in India.
Helen Keller overcame her visual and hearing impairment to become an accomplished author, political activist and a lecturer. Her birthday – June 27, is commemorated as Helen Keller Day. The event saw participation of visually challenged students from multiple NGOs including BNKP, Dwarika Blind Persons Association, National Blind Youth Association, Rashtriya Pragya Drishti Sansthan and Andh Vidhyala.
Mr. Ashish Sud, Chairman, Education Committee, MCD – South Delhi graced the event as the chief guest. The Helen Keller day celebrations commenced with mesmerizing Haryana & Rajasthan’s folk dance performances by the visually challenged students. Gunjan Kumari, an assistant professor with Delhi University, presented an informative essay on the life of Helen Keller. Gunjan, a true follower of Helen Keller, has overcome all odds to be successful in life. Before joining Delhi University, Gunjan completed one year vocational course in computers from the Amway Opportunity Foundation-All India Confederation of the Blind Centre for Excellence.
AOF also organized a special personality development session for the students. The session focused on importance of right attitude as well as improving life skills. Shikha Kumar, Head – People Development, Amway India, also highlighted opportunities available in the corporate world today to motivate the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sameer Bajaj, National Head – Corporate Communications & CSR, Amway India, said, “We are confident that more successful students like Gunjan Kumari will emerge from the efforts made by AOF along with our NGO partners. It was a pleasure to see students perform with such élan and confidence.”

Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF)
AOF is the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Amway India. The Foundation has been actively associated with several projects dedicated towards child welfare across the country. AOF has instituted two projects in India – 1) National Project for Blind which endeavors to facilitate quality education and economic independence of the visually challenged. 2) Project Sunrise under which it facilitates education, health & hygiene for less privileged children of the society. AOF works with 40 NGO partners across India.
