ANGUL: Villagers of Paripara, Jarada, Jamunda and Jamunda Jungle and Dudhiabeda celebrated Rajo Festival in a different way with traditional fun and gaiety.
Various decorated swings, specially designed sporting events for girls, women and boys and several ethnic delicacies were part of the celebration of Raja by the Villagers of 5 Villages in a common Platform, for the first time of its kind.
On invitation of the Villagers, Angul Superintendent of Police Rajesh Uttam Rao Pandit, IPS graced the function as Chief-Guest and inaugurated a series of programmes specially designed for girls and women. Executive Director (I/c), Location Head of Jindal Steel & Power, Dinesh Kumar Saraogi joined the Celebration in Villagers’ invitations and extolled the local culture.
Nearly a thousand of Villagers received the Chief Guest Rajesh Pandit in the Village and paraded their excellence in various sports and game. Jindal Steel & Power felicitated the Winners with various Awards which were delivered by the Chief-Guest.
Rajo, being an agrarian festival symbolizing the Mother Earth’s readiness for fecundity with the arrival of monsoon, Dinesh Saraogi, wished all the Farming community and Women of Odisha a happy Rajo festival and prayed for a good monsoon.
JSPL is extremely happy to be part of the society and celebrate the special festival of Goddess Mother Earth, Saraogi added.
Amongst others, the Village Heads of 5 Villages, the concerned Ward Members, JSPL Officials namely Suresh Kumar Sharma, AVP – CRS & R; M Sujit Kumar Pradhan, AVP- L & A; Asish Pandey, GM-CS; Pushpalata Satapathy, DGM-CSR and other senior officers of the company also joined with the villagers to celebrate this ethnic Rajo Festival.
