As India moves toward a more structured era of personal-data governance, organisations need more than policy documents and audit checklists. DPDP Untangled is building a specialised compliance advisory and consent-technology practice focused on helping organisations translate the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 into practical, operational systems. With a strong focus on BFSI and other regulated sectors, the practice combines assessments, technology architecture, implementation, training and ongoing support.

Making DPDP Compliance Operational

The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 introduces a framework that affects how organisations collect, use, store and manage personal data. For businesses, particularly those operating in regulated industries, the challenge is not simply understanding the law—it is embedding its requirements into everyday processes. DPDP Untangled approaches this challenge from an operational perspective, helping organisations move from compliance as a one-time documentation exercise toward a system that can be managed continuously across people, processes, vendors and technology.

Purpose-Built for India’s DPDP Framework

One of the practice’s key differentiators is its focus on India’s DPDP Act rather than adapting a generic global privacy product to the Indian market. This India-specific orientation is particularly relevant for organisations that need to interpret data-protection requirements alongside existing sectoral obligations. For BFSI organisations and other regulated businesses, privacy compliance can intersect with requirements associated with regulators such as RBI, SEBI and IRDAI. DPDP Untangled positions its advisory approach around mapping these overlapping obligations instead of treating data protection as an isolated compliance function.

A Full-Stack Compliance and Technology Practice

DPDP Untangled operates across four broad lines of capability: Assessments, Tech Architecture & Build, Training & Enablement, and Advisory & Ongoing Support. Assessment services can help organisations understand gaps in their current privacy and data-management practices. DPIAs and vendor due diligence provide structured ways to identify risks. On the technology side, the practice works on consent architecture and data-discovery requirements, including DPDR and CDJR-oriented discovery. This technology-led layer connects compliance obligations with how data is actually collected, mapped, accessed, retained and managed.

Consent Management with an Ownership-Led Model

At the centre of DPDP Untangled’s technology proposition is its flagship Consent Management Platform, powered by truConsent. A notable element of the offering is the outright-ownership model: clients receive the codebase and deployment rather than simply renting access to a recurring-license platform. This model is designed to give organisations greater control over their consent infrastructure and positions consent technology as part of the organisation’s own compliance and operational architecture.

From Vendor Due Diligence to Breach Readiness

Modern data-protection programmes extend beyond an organisation’s internal systems. Third-party vendors can process or access significant volumes of personal data, making vendor due diligence an important part of privacy risk management. DPDP Untangled’s broader advisory portfolio also includes breach-response readiness and ongoing support, including DPO-as-a-Service and breach-response retainers. These capabilities recognise that data protection is not only about preventing issues but also about having defined processes when incidents or regulatory requirements arise.

Training and Enablement for Day-to-Day Compliance

A strong compliance framework cannot depend entirely on a privacy team. Employees, technology teams, business units, procurement functions and vendors can all influence how personal data is handled. Training and enablement therefore form an important part of DPDP Untangled’s full-stack model. By combining education with technology and advisory support, the practice aims to help organisations make privacy requirements understandable and actionable across the business.

Building a More Practical Privacy Culture

The broader philosophy behind DPDP Untangled is that compliance should be operated, not filed away. Policies have limited value if they are disconnected from consent journeys, data inventories, vendor processes, incident response and business workflows. By bringing together regulatory interpretation, assessments, technology architecture, consent management, training and ongoing advisory support, DPDP Untangled is positioning itself as an implementation partner rather than a pure consulting shop. For organisations preparing for India’s evolving data-protection environment, this distinction matters. The future of privacy compliance will increasingly depend on connecting legal requirements with technology and operational execution. DPDP Untangled’s India-specific focus and ownership-led consent technology model are designed around that intersection. Ultimately, the practice is working toward a simple proposition: data protection should become part of how an organisation operates every day—not a document prepared only when an audit or filing requires it.
