HDFC Life Spent Rs 11.67 Crore on CSR in FY26, Reached 8.54 Lakh People Across India

HDFC Life’s Swabhimaan CSR programme supported education, healthcare, sanitation, environment, livelihood and community development projects across 24 States and Union Territories.

NEW DELHI (India CSR): HDFC Life Insurance Company Limited, a life insurance company, spent Rs 11.67 crore on CSR in FY 2025-26 under its Swabhimaan programme, reaching about 8.54 lakh beneficiaries across 24 States and Union Territories through education, healthcare, sanitation, livelihood, environment and community development initiatives.

According to the company’s annual report, the CSR work covered 90 districts, including 16 Aspirational Districts. The report states that 27 CSR projects were implemented through 25 implementation partners. The programme focused on underserved communities, including children, women, tribal groups, rural households, veterans’ families and people in need of better access to public services.

CSR Spending Report FY2026

The annual report states that HDFC Life’s average net profit for CSR calculation was Rs 803.69 crore. Its prescribed CSR obligation for FY 2025-26 was Rs 16.07 crore. The company spent Rs 11.67 crore during the year and used Rs 4.40 crore available as set-off from excess CSR spending of previous years to meet the obligation.

The CSR projects were implemented under the company’s flagship programme, Swabhimaan. The programme is linked to three main areas: education and livelihood, healthcare and sanitation, and environmental sustainability. The company also supported initiatives for veterans’ families and sportspersons.

Health Support

Healthcare and sanitation received the largest share of CSR spending, with Rs 4.41 crore allocated during the year. The report highlights support for screening, diagnosis and treatment of children with critical health conditions, including congenital heart defects, childhood cancer and clubfoot. These interventions benefited 2,250 children.

In Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, the company supported 24×7 ambulance services and a mobile medical clinic for 55 tribal villages. In Thane, Maharashtra, HDFC Life supported the construction of 220 toilets and hygiene awareness sessions, benefiting more than 1,240 people. The sanitation work also included awareness on menstrual health.

Learning Access

The company spent Rs 2.97 crore on education and livelihood projects. These projects reached more than 6.58 lakh beneficiaries, according to the report. One major initiative was the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy programme in Jharkhand, where about 7,000 government primary school teachers were trained to use teaching materials for improving learning in Mathematics and English for students from Grades 1 to 5.

In Kargil, the RISE Fellowship programme supported project-based learning and socio-emotional learning for 650 students. The company also supported vocational training, financial literacy and livelihood-linked initiatives. More than 36,700 people were reached through financial literacy programmes covering digital banking and government schemes.

Green Projects

HDFC Life spent Rs 1.93 crore on environmental sustainability projects during the year. The projects reached about 20,000 people. The report states that the company supported two Miyawaki city forests in Maharashtra, where more than 9,600 saplings were planted across 28,500 square feet.

The company also supported solar energy initiatives, including hospital solarisation in Manipur and solar-powered infrastructure in schools in Maharashtra. These projects were aimed at improving access to reliable energy and supporting environmental sustainability.

Wider Support

HDFC Life also spent Rs 1.75 crore on projects for veterans’ families and sportspersons. The initiatives included scholarships and financial assistance for children of veterans and war widows. The company also supported Indian athletes preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

The company’s employee volunteering initiative, Agent of Good, saw participation from more than 1,400 registered volunteers. Blood donation drives involved 594 employees across 17 branches. More than 500 employees also participated in campaigns to support children requiring medical care.

CSR Governance

The report states that the company’s Board CSR & ESG Committee provides oversight and direction for CSR initiatives. The committee monitors alignment with Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, and the company’s CSR policy.

HDFC Life said its CSR approach is guided by its broader philosophy of supporting communities and enabling people to live with dignity. The FY26 CSR spending shows a focus on public health, education, livelihood, sanitation, environment and inclusive development.
