Rights-cleared dataset valued at $1.7 billion to support UK operation
LONDON (India CSR): Eros Innovation, a company operating in the media, entertainment, cultural technology and artificial intelligence sector, has announced a £265 million investment commitment in the United Kingdom over five years to support AI music studios, microdrama production, animation, cultural AI research and its Large Cultural Model programmes.
The announcement was made at London Tech Week on June 10. The company also said it will license its independently valued $1.7 billion cultural dataset to its UK operation.
The move is aimed at positioning the UK as a production, technology and research hub for Eros Innovation’s AI-powered creative businesses.
The dataset has been independently valued by OxValue.AI in association with the University of Oxford, the company said. It is based on about 1.5 trillion rights-cleared cultural tokens. These have been drawn from 11,000 films and 100,000 characters.
According to Eros Innovation, the licensing arrangement will create a UK-based cultural AI capability governed under British law. The company said the initiative will also support UK-based training and research and development for its Large Cultural Model family.
British academic partnerships are under development.
As part of the announcement, Eros Innovation unveiled three creative programmes covering 15 productions.
Eros Brahmand, a mythology-based cinematic universe, includes Nandi – War of Kailasa, Dwaarka: Gateway to the Universe, Vimaan Wars, Mahabharat 5000 A.D., Yakshinis, Brahmarakshak, Garuda, Kumbhayanna and Mansa Devi.
Eros Universe includes new chapters of Tanu Weds Manu, Phobia, English Vinglish, Desi Boyz, Rangeela and Tere Naam. Eros Remastered will begin with Kochadaiyan – Remastered.
Two productions, Nandi – War of Kailasa and Tanu Weds Manu – The Next Chapter, are confirmed to shoot in Britain in 2026. They will be directed by Mitakshara Kumar and co-produced with Rudrak Soma Jyoti Limited.
The company said the investment is intended to drive inward investment, employment and research activity across Britain’s creative and technology sectors.
The announcement is also significant for the wider debate on cultural AI, rights-cleared datasets and the role of creative industries in responsible technology development. For CSR, ESG and policy readers, the development raises questions around data governance, creative employment, cultural representation, intellectual property and institutional accountability in AI-led content production.
“This commitment is proof that we can aim higher, and go further, when we work together. It’s a vote of confidence in Britain’s creatives and our tech sector,” said Kanishka Narayan MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
“What we are bringing to Britain is not an office, and it is not an investment. It is a sovereign-grade cultural artificial intelligence capability – one of the world’s largest rights-cleared cultural datasets, the AI Studio that will operate on it, and a long-term partnership with British data, British talent and British institutions to build what comes next together. Cultural AI will define the next decade of how humanity creates, learns and remembers. Britain is the right place to build it,” said Swaneet Singh, Co-President, Eros Innovation.
“Storytelling has always evolved alongside technology, but the heart of every great story remains imagination, emotion, and human creativity. Through Eros Brahmand, Eros Universe, and Eros Remastered, we are building something that has never before been attempted at this scale, a new creative ecosystem powered by AI, rooted in culture, and designed to bring stories to audiences in entirely new ways. We are proud to be building it from London,” said Ridhima Lulla, Co-Founder and Co-President, Eros Innovation; CEO, Eros Brahmand Studios.
Eros Innovation’s Large Cultural Model family was first unveiled at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February 2026. Eros LCVM and Eros Persona AI were launched on June 5, 2026, by S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, Government of India.
The company operates across India, the United Kingdom, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
