Narayan Seva Sansthan to Host 46th Wedding Ceremony for Persons with Disabilities and Underprivileged Couples
NEW DELHI (India CSR): In a powerful celebration of inclusion, dignity, and social empowerment, Narayan Seva Sansthan (NSS), one of India’s leading organizations dedicated to disability rehabilitation, healthcare, and social empowerment, will host its 46th Wedding Ceremony for Persons with Disabilities and Underprivileged Couples on June 6–7 in Delhi.
Two-day ceremony will bring together 21 specially selected couples from different states across India, each representing a unique journey of resilience and transformation. Far more than a wedding celebration, the wedding ceremony marks the meaningful culmination of a comprehensive process of rehabilitation, empowerment, and social inclusion, reflecting restored dignity, renewed confidence, and the beginning of independent family lives.
Among the participating couples are individuals with locomotor disabilities, visual impairments, and hearing or speech disabilities. Many of the brides and grooms have received free corrective surgeries, artificial limbs, assistive devices, and vocational training through NSS. Their transition from medical rehabilitation to marriage and independent family life is a testament to the NSS’s holistic support model, which restores confidence, self-reliance, and social acceptance.
Speaking about the initiative, Prashant Agarwal, President, Narayan Seva Sansthan, said that the organization has facilitated the marriages of 2,561 persons with disabilities over the past 22 years, creating opportunities for thousands to experience the security, companionship, and social recognition that family life provides. He emphasized that the institution’s mission extends beyond charity, focusing instead on empowering individuals through dignity, equal opportunities, and long-term social and economic inclusion.
To help couples establish secure and dignified households, Narayan Seva Sansthan also provides essential post-marriage support, including furniture, household appliances, kitchen equipment, sewing machines, wheelchairs, and other necessities required for building stable and self-reliant family lives. This unique approach ensures that support extends well beyond the wedding ceremony, creating a strong foundation for long-term social and economic well-being.
During the wedding ceremony, Vedic rituals, devotional music, cultural performances, and spiritual ceremonies will be conducted in accordance with traditional customs. Distinguished guests, spiritual leaders, social reformers, public representatives, philanthropists, and supporters from across India and overseas are expected to attend. Many will participate in the traditional Kanyadaan ceremony, offering their blessings and support to the newlyweds as they begin their married lives.
The Wedding ceremony was formally announced during a press conference addressed by Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, Media and Public Relations Head; Satya Bhushan Jain, Media Head and Patron; and Jatan Singh Bhati, In-charge of the Delhi Ashram, who jointly unveiled the official poster for the upcoming ceremony.
Through this initiative, Narayan Seva Sansthan continues to demonstrate how rehabilitation, inclusion, and empowerment can translate into meaningful social participation, enabling persons with disabilities to lead dignified, independent, and fulfilling lives.
Recognised at the highest national level, NSS founder Kailash Manav Agarwal received the Padma Shri in 2008 from then President Pratibha Patil for his contributions to social service. Continuing this legacy, NSS President Prashant Agarwal was honoured with the National Award in 2023 by President Droupadi Murmu for advancing the empowerment of persons with disabilities. Over the years, the institution has provided free artificial limbs to more than 39,388 beneficiaries and free medical treatment to over 452,000 patients.
