NEW DELHI (India CSR): Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT) has been honored with the prestigious India CSR Award 2025 under the Excellence in Waste Management – Environment & Sustainability for its impactful E-Waste Management Project during an award ceremony held in PHD Chamber, New Delhi. The award celebrates GVT’s commitment toward building sustainable communities, promoting responsible recycling, and strengthening India’s environmental ecosystem.
The award was conferred by the Chief Guest Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee (widely known as the Father of Indian CSR and Chairman of National Committee for Formulation of Indian Standards for ESG (Bureau of Indian Standards) and Rusen Kumar, Founder of India CSR and one of India’s most respected voices in the field of CSR and Sustainability and received by Ramesh Bhatt (CSR Head, GVT), Ms. Sonakshi Shree (Sr. Manager, CSR – GVT) and Anil Kumar (Assistant Manager, CSR – GVT).
Launched in late 2023, with support and funding from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Bank, the E-Waste Management Project was conceptualized in response to the rapidly growing environmental threat posed by electronic waste, now one of the world’s fastest-growing waste streams. India, as a major consumer of electronic goods, has witnessed a sharp rise in e-waste generation, thereby increasing risks of soil contamination, water pollution, and adverse health impacts when unmanaged. The initiative is designed around three core pillars—awareness, capacity building, and responsible recycling.
It aims to enhance community understanding of e-waste hazards, promote responsible disposal practices, and ensure that e-waste is routed through authorized recyclers. By far the project has successfully collected and recycled over 1000 kg of electronic waste, trained, secured and upskilled 75 waste workers and created impactful awareness in over 10000 community people directly.
The project has also launched 2 dedicated e-waste collection vans and integrated technology with the development of a mobile app ‘KACHRA CLINIC’ for strengthening collection and waste management in and around Delhi-NCR.
The India CSR Award 2025 acknowledges the project’s innovative community-led model, robust implementation, and measurable environmental impact. The award celebrates GVT’s commitment to integrating environmental stewardship with social inclusion, demonstrating how focused interventions can create long-term sustainability. This award reinforces GVT’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and strengthens its resolve to scale its initiatives to more communities across India. With continued support from SMBC, GVT aims to expand its e-waste interventions, promote responsible consumer behavior, and build a cleaner and greener future.
Speaking on the achievement, GVT’s leadership expressed gratitude to SMBC for its strong support and emphasized the organization’s commitment to fostering sustainable development across underserved regions.
