MUMBAI (India CSR): Rusen Kumar, Founder of India CSR, visited the newly established Lodha Mathematical Sciences Institute (LMSI) in Mumbai, an initiative of Abhishek Lodha’s Lodha Foundation. The institute, launched on August 17, 2025, marks a new era for mathematics research in India.
During his visit, Rusen Kumar toured the institute, interacted with the core team working on building LMSI as a hub of global mathematical excellence. He was received by Dr. V. Kumar Murty, a globally renowned mathematician and academic leader, who now serves as the Director of LMSI.
The two held an in-depth conversation on the significance of mathematics in shaping India’s future.
Speaking about the initiative, Rusen Kumar said, “Lodha’s commitment proves that mathematics is not abstract—it is the foundation of tomorrow’s India. Visiting LMSI and interacting with its team has reinforced my belief that such institutions will not only inspire young talent but also position India as a leader in global research.”

The Lodha Mathematical Sciences Institute is designed to encourage intellectual inquiry, collaboration, and innovation in mathematics, both in its fundamental aspects and real-world applications. The institute aims to attract leading global scholars, nurture young researchers, and contribute to India’s ambition of becoming a knowledge superpower by 2047.
Rusen Kumar’s visit highlighted the growing role of private philanthropy in advancing education and research in India. His interaction with the LMSI team underlined the importance of visionary leadership and long-term commitment to scientific excellence.
