TAMIL NADU (India CSR): Muthoot Finance inaugurated the Muthoot Kalaivani Nursery & Primary School in Theyyar Village, Vandavasi of Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. This initiative marks a meaningful step towards Muthoot Finance’s long-standing focus on inclusive education and social development through the company’s CSR efforts to enable access to quality education for children in underserved rural communities.

As part of this initiative, Muthoot Finance has committed an initial investment of ₹5 Crore towards the construction, infrastructure, and operational support of the school, ensuring a holistic educational environment for students in the region. This is in line with the company’s CSR strategy, where over 60% of its CSR funds are allocated to education, alongside health and environmental initiatives.

The school was officially inaugurated by Shri M.S. Tharaniventhan, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Arani Constituency, in the presence of special guests Shri. S. Ambethkumar, Member of Legislative Assembly, Vandavasi Constituency, and Shri D. Jagadheesan, District Education Officer, Tiruvannamalai. The event was presided over by Shri George M. George, Deputy Managing Director, Muthoot Finance. The ceremony was also graced by Dr. Kalpana Sankar, Managing Director, Belstar Microfinance Ltd., and Shri S. Chandrasekar, Director of HIH Academy for Social Entrepreneurship.

George M. George, Deputy Managing Director, Muthoot Finance, added: “Education is the foundation on which strong, self-reliant communities are built. At Muthoot Finance, we believe that true empowerment begins with the mind. Through the Muthoot Kalaivani School, our vision is to offer rural children access to quality education and nurturing environment where their potential is recognised and nurtured, no matter where they come from. By combining world-class infrastructure with community insight, we are building more than classrooms—we’re building futures.”

Spread across 5.25 acres, the school, affiliated with the Tamil Nadu State Board, has been established under Muthoot Finance’s CSR programme to bring quality, affordable education to underserved communities. It will initially accommodate 250 students in the Nursery and Primary sections, with plans to expand into Middle, High, and Higher Secondary levels, ultimately serving over 1,000 students.

The school will be operated by Hand in Hand India, a national NGO. The organisation began its work for in Tamil Nadu in 2002 and has since grown into a national force in child welfare, rural development, and livelihood generation. The construction for Muthoot Kalaivani Nursery & Primary School began with a Bhoomi Pooja on February 19, 2024, and the school is now open for admissions for the academic year starting June 2025.

With this, Muthoot Finance continues its journey to drive not just financial empowerment, but also holistic, sustainable change, enabling brighter futures for India’s next generation.
