BOBCARD LIMITED Empowers Women Entrepreneurs with ‘Shakti Samriddhi’ Initiative
Share Share Share Share

NEW DELHI (India CSR): BOBCARD LIMITED, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Baroda, has launched a game-changing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative under its flagship vision, “Reimagining Lives”. The new program, “Shakti Samriddhi”, is dedicated to empowering over 100 women entrepreneurs through skill development, financial literacy, and mentorship.

The initiative aims to bridge the gender gap in business by equipping women with entrepreneurial training and essential resources, helping them create sustainable livelihoods and drive economic progress in their communities.

Women Entrepreneurs: Catalysts for Economic Growth

Despite India being the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem, women still make up only 35% of the workforce in startups, according to the State of India’s Livelihood Report. This stark gap highlights the urgent need for targeted programs that foster female entrepreneurship and financial independence.

BOBCARD’s Shakti Samriddhi is tailored to support both aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs, giving them access to:

  • Skill-building workshops
  • Financial literacy training
  • Business mentorship
  • Entrepreneurial starter kits

Through these efforts, BOBCARD is creating a strong foundation for women to establish and scale their businesses, fostering self-reliance and economic growth.

Launch Event and Key Partnerships

The official launch event was attended by Aditi Tatkare, Hon’ble Minister of Women & Child Development, Maharashtra, alongside key dignitaries from BOBCARD LIMITED and United Way Mumbai (UWM), the program’s implementation partner.

In collaboration with United Way Mumbai, the initiative is providing essential entrepreneurial kits, including sewing machines, baking equipment, and other business tools, empowering women to start or expand their ventures.

Speaking at the event, Aditi Tatkare expressed her enthusiasm for the program:

“Empowering women entrepreneurs is vital for economic and social progress. Through financial literacy, training, and mentorship, BOBCARD is giving women the tools they need to build successful businesses and contribute to society. I commend their commitment to inclusive development and encourage all participants to seize this opportunity with confidence and determination.”

BOBCARD’s Vision for Inclusive Growth

Ravindra Rai, MD & CEO of BOBCARD LIMITED, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering women at the grassroots level:

“At BOBCARD, we believe that true empowerment is not just about access to resources—it’s about unlocking potential. Through Shakti Samriddhi, we are committed to fostering financial independence, business growth, and leadership among women. When women succeed, families, communities, and economies thrive. This initiative reflects our dedication to creating a more inclusive and equitable society.”

A Three-Tier Approach to Women’s Empowerment

The Shakti Samriddhi program follows a structured three-step approach:

1️⃣ Skill-Building & Financial Literacy

  • A 3-day training session covering business skills, financial management, and entrepreneurship fundamentals.
  • Guidance on budgeting, banking, and understanding good vs. bad loans.

2️⃣ Providing Entrepreneurship Kits

  • Distribution of business-specific starter kits (sewing machines, baking tools, handicraft supplies, etc.).
  • Focus on sustainable income generation through self-employment.

3️⃣ Ongoing Mentorship & Support

  • Regular check-ins and business guidance sessions.
  • Problem-solving workshops and networking opportunities for women entrepreneurs.

By integrating training, resources, and mentorship, the program ensures long-term impact and sustainable business success.

Building a More Equitable Future

BOBCARD LIMITED’s Reimagining Lives: Shakti Samriddhi initiative is more than just a CSR program—it is a movement to uplift and empower women entrepreneurs. By addressing financial literacy gaps, providing essential tools, and fostering mentorship, this initiative paves the way for a stronger, more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in India.

Through continued collaborations and innovative CSR efforts, BOBCARD remains steadfast in its mission to create real, lasting change, ensuring that women-led businesses flourish and drive economic progress for generations to come.
