The report raises concerns about the potential health implications of excessive sugar intake for infants and young children.
Nestlé India Responds, Emphasizing Nutritional Quality and Compliance
In response to the allegations, a Nestlé India spokesperson has issued a statement emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing high-quality, nutritious products for infants and young children.
Meeting Nutritional Needs and Upholding Safety Standards
The spokesperson stated, “We would like to assure you that our Infant Cereal products are manufactured to ensure the appropriate delivery of nutritional requirements such as Protein, Carbohydrates, Vitamins, Minerals, Iron etc. for early childhood. We never compromise and will never compromise on the nutritional quality of our products.”
Nestlé India further emphasized its adherence to strict safety and quality standards, stating that their products comply with both CODEX standards (established by WHO and FAO) and local specifications regarding nutrient requirements, including added sugars.
