AMSHEDPUR: Tata Steel has been always extending its educational facilities to the community, aided by many academic institutions and schools conceived under its agenda for social upliftment. The company has taken a step forward in enhancing the capacity of a few such institutions which participate in scholastic development of the society. Taking this initiative further, Tata Steel is supporting the construction and upgradation of facilities at three schools under All India Women’s Conference (AIWC) the estimated cost for which is Rs 5 Crores.
In this regard, Mr HM Nerurkar, Managing Director, Tata Steel, handed over an amount of Rs 1.15 crores to Ms Surekha Nerrurkar, Chairperson, AIWC, on behalf of the Company. The rest of the amount will be paid in subsequent installments after monitoring the progress of the project.
Established in the year 1988 with the valuable support of TISCO, Jamshedpur Public School (AIWC), one of the reputed English medium CBSE affiliated schools of the city provides education up to plus two. The school will be soon completing 25 years of its existence. AIWC intended to upgrade the Computer Lab and few other facilities in the school to meet the statutory compliances.
Previously after observing the extraordinary performance of JPS, Tata Steel had outsourced two other schools, namely Baridih High School (JAC affiliated) & AIWC Academy of Excellence (CBSE affiliated), to AIWC in the year 2001 and 2003, respectively. Plans to construct new blocks so that the school can meet the mandatory requirements of CBSE affiliation for Plus Two at AIWC Academy of Excellence will be taken forward hereafter. Construction will also be done in Baridih High School so that appropriate teaching hours can be provided to all students in one shift.
Ms Surekha Nerurkar, President, AIWC, said, “I am grateful to Tata Steel’s management for playing a proactive role in serving the society. AIWC will continue to look forward to receive such support and encouragement from the Company while developing the educational frontiers for the students in future too.” Reiterating the same, Ms Mousumi Sengupta, Secretary, AIWC, said, ‘’Education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world. We at AIWC understand this fact and try to provide our students with an all-round development rather than only nurturing them scholastically. We are happy that Tata Steel has always motivated us in our endeavours.”
All the three schools are performing well and are providing quality education to about 5500 children. Development of school infrastructure, providing proper facilities to the student and maintaining quality standard in academics have always been prioritized by the AIWC management.
