NEW YORK (India CSR): Following the recent tragic mass shooting in Lewiston, numerous individuals are reflecting on the frequency of such catastrophic occurrences in Maine. This state, located in the northeastern part of the U.S., demonstrates distinct traits in relation to gun-related incidents, setting it apart markedly from the national norms.

At least 22 people have been reported dead in Lewiston, Maine, following mass shootings at two locations in the city. The shootings occurred on Wednesday night, and the gunman is still at large. The police have ordered people to shelter in place as they respond to the shootings. Robert Card has been named as a person of interest in the case.

The Shootings

The shootings occurred at a restaurant and a bowling alley in Lewiston. The police have confirmed that multiple casualties have been reported, and dozens of people have been wounded. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office has released two photos of the suspect on its Facebook page. The images show a gunman walking into a building with a weapon raised to his shoulder.

The Manhunt

A manhunt is underway for the suspect, who remains at large. Hundreds of officers are taking part in the search for Robert Card, who has been named as a person of interest in the case 3. The citizens of Lewiston and the nearby town of Lisbon remain under shelter-in-place orders, with authorities advising people to stay inside with their doors locked.

Reactions

The shootings have shocked the community, and local officials are urging residents to remain calm. Governor Janet Mills has expressed her condolences to the families of those affected by the tragedy and has promised that law enforcement officials will do everything in their power to bring the perpetrator to justice.
