He is in the news because he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday night in an alleged money laundering case linked to loans and credit lines given to the airline by Canara Bank.

The ED has accused Naresh Goyal of diverting funds from Jet Airways to his personal accounts and using them for dubious and personal expenses.
He is also charged with forgery, criminal conspiracy, and cheating under the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) for allegedly defrauding Canara Bank of Rs 538.62 crore.
