CHENNAI (India CSR): In a special campaign conducted by the Indian Overseas Bank at Chennai District on 21-03-2023, a whopping amount of Rs. 5.078 crores was sanctioned and disbursed to 87 Self Help Groups across the district. The event was graced by the presence of Indian Overseas Bank General Manager & SLBC Convenor Reyazul Haque and TNULM Chennai, Asst. Project Officer Thiru E Ravi as special guests.
Apart from loan disbursals, the bank also conducted financial literacy programs for the SHGs. This marks the second SHG campaign of the month, with Chennai-I, Chennai-II region and Lead Bank, Chennai conducting a total of Rs. 10.107 crores to 171 Self Help Groups in Chennai District alone during March 2023.
The Indian Overseas Bank’s efforts towards supporting the growth and development of SHGs in the region have been lauded by the community. The bank’s commitment towards financial literacy and empowerment is indeed commendable. The campaign has set a benchmark for other financial institutions to follow suit and contribute towards the growth of SHGs in the region.
