The penalty imposed was Rs. 70 lakh, which is a record amount.

Confirmation of Penalty Payment
The airline paid the penalty this month, as confirmed by the Director General of the DGCA, Arun Kumar, who declined to comment further on the issue.
Statement from Vistara
A Vistara spokesperson stated that the company has paid the penalty under protest, as they consider themselves to be a law-abiding organization. They also confirmed that since the penalty was imposed, they have deployed capacity in excess of the Route Dispersal Guidelines requirement, as they have done in the past.
Lower Seat Kilometres
The Vistara’s available seat kilometers for April 2022 was found to be 0.99%. This was lower than the requirement of 1% for northeastern routes as mandated by the civil aviation ministry.
