The sustainable agriculture program of the foundation positively impacted 115714 farming families by improving 156312 acres of land across 1370 villages.

Mumbai, January 23, 2023: Bajaj Foundation, the CSR and philanthropic arm of the Bajaj Group, has released its latest Annual Report for FY 2021-22, highlighting the impact of its initiatives in rural development, people and community empowerment, and sustainability. The report showcases the foundation’s commitment to improving the lives of farmers and rural communities through its water resource development, sustainable agriculture, and women empowerment programs.

Water Resource Development

The foundation’s water resource development programs have rejuvenated rivers and streams stretching a total of 687 km across Maharashtra’s Wardha district, making 151757 acres of land irrigable and cultivable, benefitting 23070 farming families. The program also covered nearly 300000 acres of land, positively impacting the lives of 80000 families.

Sustainable Agriculture

The foundation’s sustainable agriculture program improved 156312 acres of land across 1370 villages, positively impacting 115714 farming families. The foundation also trained 83164 farmers on natural farming techniques, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices.

Women Empowerment

Bajaj Foundation’s women empowerment program, through self-help groups (SHGs), income generation activities, rearing of indigenous cows, and installation of biogas plants, empowered 76496 women across 970 villages.

“Transformed the lives of over 50,000 farmers”

Haribhai Mori, President of Bajaj Foundation, said, “Our work in villages across Wardha, Sikar, and Lalitpur has transformed the lives of over 50,000 farmers and roughly 20 lakh people. The foundation’s three-pronged approach involving the development of water resources, diversifying agriculture, and enhanced use of technology has led to a visible positive impact across communities.”

The foundation’s interventions are designed such that they invite participation from community members, government agencies, NGO partners, employees, and other stakeholders to guarantee success and long-term sustainability. The foundation’s 6th Annual Report is available on its website and can be accessed by the public. The foundation encourages its stakeholders to review the report and provide feedback on its CSR initiatives.
