NEW DELHI: The workforce in Indian companies is not unionized. A striking example of this can be seen in Lupin Pharma. Only 6 percent of the employees of this company are members of employee unions.
“About 6% of the permanent employees are members of recognised employee associations.”, the company’s annual report said.
The total permanent number of employees of Lupin is 18,3O2 in India as of March 31, 2O2O.
Lupin is an innovation-led transnational pharmaceutical company headquartered in Mumbai.
“As the Company’s plants and offices are situated at multiple places, there are unions and associations of employees at the respective locations.”, the company’s annual report 2021 revealed.
According to the report, the company hired 5,999 labours on March 31, 2O2O on a temporary or contractual, or casual basis.
As per the report, the total number of permanent women employees stood at 915 as of March 31, 2O2O.
The pharma company is providing permanent employment to 17 employees with disabilities as of March 31, 2O2O.
The Company has in place an Internal Complaints Committee as mandated by the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2O13.
“During the year, the Ombudsperson received 2O complaints, mostly of minor nature. Teams of Strategic Business Unit Heads/Officers appointed by the Ombudsperson investigated/examined the complaints, and the same were satisfactorily resolved. The Company did not receive any complaint of sexual harassment during the year.”, the report said.
The Company has 12 manufacturing plants situated at Aurangabad, Tarapur, Pune and Nagpur in Maharashtra, Ankleshwar and Dabhasa in Gujarat, Mandideep and Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Coa and Jammu. The main R&D Centre is located at Pune. The Registered office is in Mumbai. The Company has 27 Carrying a Forwarding Agents, nine Central Warehouses and seven Consignee Agents across the country, report said.
