MUMBAI (India CSR) : UltraTech Cement Limited has spent Rs. 120.68 crores during the year 2020-21 on various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, which constitutes over 3.3% of the average net profits of the last three financial years. In addition, the Company mobilised over Rs. 38.22 crores through Government Schemes for its social development projects.
During the year 2019-20, Rs 124.51 crores was spent, against prescribed CSR Expenditure of 63.50 Crores by the company for CSR, which constituted over 3.50% of the average net profits of the last three years.
The company has mobilised Rs. 47 cr through Govt Schemes for various social projects during the year 2019-20.
The Company’s social projects are carried on under the aegis of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development. Need-based collaborative partnerships are formed with the government agencies, district authorities, village panchayats, NGOs and like-minded stakeholders for its CSR initiatives.
The Company also engages with the CII and FICCI in its social activities.
The company’s CSR activities are focused on Social Empowerment and Welfare, Infrastructure Development, Sustainable Livelihood, Healthcare and Education. Various activities across these segments have been initiated during the year around its plant locations and the neighbouring villages.
The Company is actively contributing to the social and economic development of the communities in which it operates.
The Company is doing so in sync with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to build a better, sustainable way of life for the weaker sections of society and raise the country’s human development index.
The Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy conforms to the National Voluntary Guidelines on Social, Environment and Economic Responsibilities of Business released by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
