Well-known CSR leader, Dr. Bimal Arora, also founder of Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) passed away due to illness, CRB informed India CSR. “It is with profound grief and sadness that we announce the untimely and extremely unfortunate demise of our Founder and Honorary Chairperson, Dr. Bimal Arora.”, CRB said.

“Driven by his vision and passion, and against all odds he established the Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) in 2011 – to promote and practice sustainable and responsible business in India and beyond. We will continue to be inspired by his vision and desire for CRB to scale and achieve measurable sustainability impacts.”, it further added.

“Dr. Arora has been a thought-leader and a source of motivation not just to us at CRB but also to a wide global community of sustainability practitioners and enthusiasts. This is not just a loss to the organisation but to the theory and practice of sustainability/responsible business globally. We convey our deep sympathy, sorrow and condolences to the bereaved family and friends.”, CRB said.

The Center for Responsible Business (CRB) was incubated by Dr. Bimal Arora as a center of excellence and competence with an objective to address the growing need and demand for training, advisory, and research services for business enterprises, governments, national and international organizations in the domain of voluntary sustainability standards, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), ethical trade, and sustainable supply chains.

Dr. Bimal Arora was founding CEO and Director of Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) which he established to facilitate participation of Indian actors in voluntary global governance for sustainability.

Driven by his vision, CRB has been established as key actor in the Indian and global landscape of CSR and sustainability. To contribute to the contemporary debates and facilitate participation of emerging economy actors in voluntary global governance, Bimal conceptualized an international Multi-stakeholder Dialogues Platform and Conference “India and Sustainability Standards: International Dialogues and Conference” (www.sustainabilitystandards.in) in 2013, which attracts partnerships from over 60 international organizations, high profile international speakers and participation of over 700 delegates every year in November.

He has been the Chair of the dialogue platform and the conference since 2014. He was an Adjunct Faculty and Visiting Research Scholar at Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), the University of Manchester in UK, faculty member at Aston Business School and Joint Director of Aston India Centre for Applied Research (AICAR).

He was a visiting Research Fellow position at International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR) at Nottingham University Business School, and fellowship of Growing Inclusive Markets Initiative of UNDP. Bimal was obtained his Masters’ degree from London School of Economics and PhD in CSR and Sustainability from ICCSR, Nottingham University Business School.
