E-waste, not recycled properly, is an under-acknowledged environmental hazard.
NEW DELHI: The pandemic has had a traceable effect on the use of electronics and gadgets, with people relying on e-products to keep them connected with work associates, family, and friends. This has not only meant greater use of technology at home & work, but it has also lead to an increase in the consumption of e-products. This calls for industry leaders like boAt to sensitize the youth on E-waste and its plausible impact on the environment.
As a socially responsible company boAt has proactively joined & strengthened relationship with CPCB authorized e-Waste Management provider Attero. Attero Recycling Pvt Ltd is an environmentally conscious end-to-end E-Waste management solution provider in India and is one of the few such recyclers globally. For processing E-Waste, Attero Recycling has a state-of-the-art recycling plant in Roorkee, Uttarakhand.

End-of-life products which reach boAt warehouses contain potential hazards like plastics and lithium batteries. The PROs pick up the e-waste and take it to their processing facility, extract usable metals from e-waste and dispose the non-recyclable material in an environmentally friendly manner. This warrants that we act responsibly and none of the boAt e-waste ends up polluting the environment.
On the occasion Vivek Gambhir, CEO, boAt said, “We are building on our sustainability culture and would like to play an active role in creating awareness around the impact of e-waste. At Imagine Marketing, we take an uncompromising approach for the responsible recycling and stewardship of our e-waste by instituting stringent practices for its management and disposition. We are committed to responsible recycling of our end-of-life products and urge all (customers & other brands) to join our cohesive e-waste movement.”
Commenting on the partnership, Nitin Gupta, Attero’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “E-waste, not recycled properly, is an under-acknowledged environmental hazard. Attero Recycling from its inception has been committed to the vision of ‘Clean India, Green India’ and following the best practices for the environment. We are happy to partner with boAt and will be ensuring that E-waste and end of life batteries generated by boAt and its customers are recycled in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable manner. Attero Recycling through its globally patented E-waste & Li-ion battery recycling technologies will extract valuable metals such as cobalt, lithium, palladium, copper, gold thus transitioning our economy from linear to circular.”
boAt is working towards reinforcing manufacturing capabilities by setting up localized manufacturing hubs and a dedicated R&D department called ‘boAt Labs’ to fortify its position in the industry. The brand’s close association with American chipmaker ‘Qualcomm’ is a strategic move to ensure technologically superior products in the Indian Market.
