Blackbaud is committed to creating a great place to work, with a focus on employee engagement, development, well-being, inclusion and a long history of commitment to philanthropic work.

Approximately 90% of Blackbaud employees consider the company’s socially responsible operations as a significant factor in their workplace satisfaction.

Blackbaud, a leading provider of software for powering social impact, has released its 2023 Impact Report. The report details the company’s significant strides in advancing its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities over the past year. Among the many achievements highlighted, one stands out: 70% of Blackbaud employees participated in volunteer activities in 2023.

Introduction

“At Blackbaud, we’re committed to fueling impact and unleashing generosity – not only through our software, but by taking action on the issues that matter most to our people, our community, and our planet,” said Mike Gianoni, president, CEO, and vice chairman of the board. The 2023 Impact Report is a comprehensive look at the company’s commitment to corporate citizenship and the positive changes it strives to make globally. The progress and plans detailed in the report reflect Blackbaud’s dedication to social impact, philanthropy, and community engagement.

A Commitment to Philanthropy

A Culture of Giving

For over 40 years, Blackbaud has been dedicated to expanding possibilities for purpose-driven organizations. This dedication to the social impact sector and community support is deeply embedded in the company’s culture. It is no surprise that nearly 150,000 organizations worldwide benefit from Blackbaud’s solutions. This extensive network of causes, organizations, and donors depends on Blackbaud to facilitate their philanthropic efforts.

Approximately 90% of Blackbaud employees consider the company’s socially responsible operations as a significant factor in their workplace satisfaction. The company offers various philanthropy programs aimed at engaging employees. These include matching gifts, competitive grants for noteworthy volunteerism, employee-led grant committees, skills-based volunteerism initiatives, and community programs focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Volunteering: A Collective Effort

Employees Making a Difference

In 2023, more than 70% of Blackbaud employees volunteered their time and skills to various causes. This high level of participation underscores the company’s culture of giving and community service. Employee engagement in these activities is not only encouraged but also celebrated within the organization.

The company’s initiatives included:

  • Matching Gift Program: One in four employees participated, demonstrating a strong commitment to amplifying their financial contributions to charitable causes.
  • Holiday Toy Donations: Over 6,500 toys were donated during the holiday season, bringing joy to children in need.
  • Board Service: One in seven employees served on nonprofit boards, providing strategic guidance and support to these organizations.

Social Impact Through Technology

Empowering Nonprofits and Charities

Blackbaud’s software and resources are designed to drive social change and empower learning that transforms lives and communities. The impact of these tools is evident in the substantial achievements of their customers:

  • JustGiving Platform: Over one million fundraising pages were created, resulting in 19 million donations.
  • Raiser’s Edge NXT and Analytics: Organizations using these tools saw a 21% increase in average gift size over two years, boosting funds for their social impact goals.

Education and Corporate Volunteering

  • EVERFI from Blackbaud: Over 3.2 million students participated in critical skills education, totaling 8.8 million hours of learning globally.
  • YourCause from Blackbaud: Employee volunteer hours increased by 65%, and 1.9 million learners completed workplace training powered by EVERFI.

A Broader Reach

Grants and Community Events

Blackbaud’s philanthropy extends beyond volunteering. In 2023, the company awarded 140 grants to various charities, impacting 90 cities worldwide. The matching gift program alone benefited over 1,000 charities. Additionally, Blackbaud organized 130 team community volunteer events, further solidifying its role as a catalyst for social good.

Employee Engagement and Inclusion

Fostering a Positive Work Environment
