Instagram launched Reels in 2020 as an addition to the plethora of features. It allows users to make short videos ranging from 15 seconds to a minute using sounds and AR effects. Even though it is not groundbreaking in terms of its originality, it is successful in increasing reach on Instagram.

After a political clash with China in 2020, the Indian government banned Tik-Tok, and the event of Reels that followed was significant in this densely populated country.

With multiple updates and changing algorithms, Reels have become a central part of Instagram SEO, helping Instagram accounts boost their views and visibility. In such an arrangement, it has become a crucial tool for growing and established businesses and brands for more engagement on Instagram. Many brands introduce trends for their campaigns; new song tracks go viral because of reels; and people become overnight sensations. The best example is of Khaby Lame (khaby00) who has 78.1 million followers on Instagram today. He rose to fame by making reels calling out pointless hacks and stupid DIYs.

1. Be Creative

No matter if your content is educational, spiritual, or entertaining, you must be creative and unique. It is easy to make reels but hard to make good reels. Apart from following the trends, it is crucial to have good lighting, high-resolution videos, and good synchronization. All these factors contribute to making your reel attain more enagagement on Instagram.

You can also break the monotony by launching new trends or tracks. For example, Pepsi launched a reel trend in India in 2021, with multiple big and small Indian celebrities creating reels on the track.

2. Maintain Consistency

Instagram users are becoming more active on the app as they realize its power to reach out to people. Content creators post at least one reel every day without fail. Being consistent makes you visible to an increasing number of people, thereby increasing the visibility of your brand.

Your reels can include behind-the-scenes videos, an introduction to a new range of products, or your employees making reels.

An Indian e-commerce platform, Droom, has over 90k followers on Instagram. Apart from making reels about their services, their employees make humorous reels.

You too can move away from the mainstream trends and do this to maintain consistency.

3. Utilize User Generated Content

The most successful businesses and brands are those who appear trustworthy and credible to customers. The best way to establish this validity is by turning to user-generated content, Grow Instagram followers.

Include feedback and tutorials from users, and other related content in your reels. Repost reels from your customers and indulge the audience as much as possible.

It not only makes people feel closer to your brand, but also makes them feel noticed as potential consumers. Influencers also tend to repost posts mentioning them. It helps brands gain better visibility, which is the central aim of marketing.

4. Draw People’s Attention to Your Products

When Indian actress Katrina Kaif launched her own cosmetics brand, Kay Beauty, she spread awareness about her products largely through reels. Her cosmetics, specially designed for Indian skin tones, were popularized through her reels featuring Indian influencers big and small. She also invited many male  makeup influencers, implying that her products are suitable for both the male and female skin textures.

Starbucks also does something similar by creating reels showcasing their outlets and making new drinks. The second-long shots of various ingredients sow seeds of excitement amongst their viewers.

Thus, using reels to draw attention to your products and services is a vital component of Instagram marketing via reels.

5. Stay up to date

Song tracks, movie memes, sports events, and political news all become content for reels. The funniest and latest example to be quoted is Amber Heard’s clip saying, “My dog stepped on a bee.” Many stand-up comedians, brands, etc., have used the audio to create reels.

When dialogues from a new movie go viral, many people create reels using different ideas. However, to follow these trends and best utilize them, one needs to stay up-to-date. It is crucial for defeating one’s rival brands and gathering maximum views and visibility.

Instagram reels might not be able to compete with Tik-Tok, which operates as a separate social media platform, yet it has become an influential tool for Instagram marketing. In countries where Tik-Tok is banned Instagram reels have become the perfect solution. Top content creators and influencers immediately hop on the latest trends to gain maximum Instagram followers.

Brands create hashtags, taglines, and tracks, inviting celebrities and influencers to promote their products. All this is made possible by the immense reach of Instagram reels. As a business owner, one must utilize Instagram reels smartly as they carry great potential to help market your products and services, thus helping your venture grow.
