Strict Action After Urla Factory Accident, Families of Deceased Workers to Get Rs 30 Lakh Each
RAIPUR (India CSR): The administration has taken strict action after a serious industrial accident at Messrs 3-D Innovation factory located near Bendri village in the Urla industrial area of Raipur district. Following the death of three workers in the accident, all manufacturing activities at the factory have been stopped with immediate effect.
According to information, the incident occurred in the Ferro Alloys Division of the factory, which falls under the Urla police station area. Lancing work was being carried out in the furnace when an oxygen cylinder suddenly exploded with great force. Three workers, identified as Arun Pandey, Lal Singh and Kamal Singh, died in the accident.
As soon as information about the accident was received, a team from the Industrial Health and Safety Department reached the spot immediately. The team inspected the accident site and collected necessary evidence. Photography and videography of the site were also carried out.
Department officials also conducted preliminary questioning of the factory management and workers. A probe has now been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident. On the basis of the preliminary investigation, and keeping worker safety as the top priority, the administration has prohibited all manufacturing activities in the factory premises until further orders.
The action has been taken under Section 38(1)(a) of the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020. A prohibitory order has been issued to the occupier and manager of the factory. As per the order, no manufacturing activity of any kind will be allowed inside the factory premises until further directions.
The Industrial Health and Safety Department has also directed the factory management to ensure timely payment of wages and other admissible benefits to all workers employed in the factory during the period of the prohibitory order.
The department has made it clear that the suspension of manufacturing activities should not adversely affect the wages and benefits legally payable to workers. Following the department’s intervention, the factory management has agreed to provide immediate financial assistance of Rs 30 lakh each to the families of the deceased workers.
The assistance will be provided to support the families of the workers who lost their lives in the accident.
The Industrial Health and Safety Department is conducting a detailed investigation into the causes of the accident. Further legal action will be taken as per rules on the basis of the investigation report and available facts. The administration has stated that no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to the safety of workers in industrial units.
