111 Engineering Students get scholarships under Yashad Sumedha Scholarship Program

UDAIPUR: Hindustan Zinc, India’s only and world’s leading integrated Zinc-Lead-Silver producer has always believed as business grows, responsibility towards society also grows. The Company has a strong focus towards enhancing the quality of life and economic well-being of communities around its operations.

Hindustan Zinc through its educational programs like Shiksha Sambal, Unchi Udaan and other coaching programs for Govt. Competitive Exams have always focussed on inclusive growth of students from rural background. ‘Yashad Sumedha’ is one such initiative where young minds are motivated financially to come forward and secure their future.

This year, under ‘Yashad Sumedha Scholarship’, the company is sponsoring engineering degree of select 111 students (both boys & girls) who belong to household having annual income of less than Rs 2.5 lakhs and have scored marks above 75%. On the occasion of its Foundation Day, Hindustan Zinc organized a Yashad Sumedha Scholarship Distribution Ceremony on 10^th January, 2019 at Head Office, Udaipur.

Hindustan Zinc has been sponsoring students for several years and in this process, the company has partnered with Sumedha Foundation in identifying these selected students who have limited financial resources but are enrolled in Government Engineering Colleges located in 5 districts of Rajasthan – Udaipur, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand & Ajmer.

While addressing these students, Mr. Amitabh Gupta – CFO, HZL emphasized on the importance of Education and how strong focus & right attitude along with the dedication will help them in pursuing their dreams. He also mentioned that it is Hindustan Zinc’s philosophy of giving back to the society and giving both economical and moral support to Engineering students definitely contributes in building future of India.
