ISHANYA Foundation gears up to host the 9th edition of YRNF from 14th October 2016 – 17th October 2016 promoting – Skilling India

India CSR News Network

PUNE: The countdown to the city’s biggest pre-diwali extravaganza has begun, with ISHANYA Foundation announcing the dates of the 9th Yellow Ribbon NGO Fair 2016 –  14-17th October, 2016 at ISHANYA. The fair will be inaugurated at the hands of chief guest Ms. Rashmi Shukla, Commissioner of Police, Pune along with Parul Mehta, Founder Trustee, ISHANYA Foundation on Friday, 14 October 2016.

Promoting “Skilling India” the 9th edition of Yellow Ribbon NGO Fair furthers the cause and aims towards providing a larger platform to these craftsmen for recognizing their individuality, taking pride in their craft while empowering them to become self-reliant and self-sufficient. The fair will showcase handpicked portfolio of items from over 120 NGO’s and artisans from across the country offering a rich collection of Indian handicrafts by way of weaves and artifacts directly from the craftsmen.

YRNF, over the years has transformed into a platform showcasing repository of folklore cultural traditions and skilled craftsmanship, providing the artisans an access to the urbane audience. YRNF has seen tremendous growth in stature with around 40-50 repeat participants, growing interest of NGOs/SHGs supporting varied dying art forms from across the country and increasing response from visitors’ year-on-year. Driven by the phenomenal response the artisans who participated last year, this year YRNF received enquiries from over 400 NGO’s/SHG’s/artisans supporting varied art forms.

In addition, this year YRNF promises to offer a range of lifestyle, organic, chemical free and other innovative/fusion products that have become the buzzword these days. One can get their hands on some of the finest and exquisite eco-friendly and chemical free health, food and beauty care offerings all made of cow bi-products.

Another first time participant will be showcasing the rural craftsmanship from the outskirts of Bengaluru, who use banana fiber to create office, personal, and home furnishing products. Additional products on display would be made out of river grass, wool, hibiscus and other naturally available/local resources. Making traditional art relevant for the cosmopolitan audiences, craftsman from Matheran will be bringing stylized kolhapuri chappals with a hint of paithani art form.

Honey will also add its sweetness this year with a range of 20 different varieties and other products; starting from neem honey that has tremendous medicinal value to honey chocolates and honey pollen that is hugely popular as a dietary supplement.

YRNF is a perfect blend of ambience for colour, festivity, food and fun as well as education and shopping. The four-day fair links nature and craft, tradition and change, age-old skills and innovative ideas suited for changing lifestyles.

Parul Mehta, Founder & Trustee, ISHANYA Foundation highlighted,“We are extremely proud to take Yellow Ribbon NGO Fair to its ninth edition. We were overwhelmed by the response from NGOs across the country who were eager to participate. In the interest of survival and safeguarding the rich and diverse culture and art heritage of India, we should all come forward to support the artisan and craftsmen, making it meaningful for them to continue and take pride in their skills. The onus to revive and survive our cultural heritage is in our hands and we should do what it takes to ensure that this heritage does not fade out or become extinct”
