MUMBAI/NAGPUR: In response to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s announcement of ‘Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign’, Wockhardt Foundation, a not-for-profit organization working towards social service and human welfare, today announced setting up of 28 toilets in 28 schools of Washim district in Maharashtra.
Swachh Vidyalaya is the national campaign driving ‘Clean India: Clean Schools’. A key feature of the campaign is to ensure that every school in India has a set of functioning and well maintained water, sanitation and hygiene facilities. The technical components include drinking water, hand washing, toilet and soap facilities in the school compound for use by children and teachers.
This project will be funded by State Bank of India (SBI), Mumbai Circle as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, while Wockhardt Foundation will look after the construction and maintenance of the toilets.SBI has donated an amount of INR 1 crore to Wockhardt Foundation for construction and maintenance of these toilets. The project is expected to be completed within the next three 3 months. Wockhardt Foundation will maintain these toilets upto two years after construction.
A letter to this effect was handed over by Sudhir Dubey, Chief General Manager, Mumbai Circle to Dr. Huz (Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala), CEO, Wockhardt Foundation.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Huz (Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala), CEO, Wockhardt Foundation, said, “We are pleased to associate with State Bank of India in providing this facility to the school kids. Wockhardt Foundation will be implementing this initiative through its Swachhalaya programme. Through Swachhalaya, Wockhardt Foundation is committed to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan programme, a national initiative by the Government of India.
