MUMBAI: Council for Fair Business Practices (CFBP) has announced the winners of 29th CFBP Jamnalal Bajaj Awards for Fair Business Practices. CFBP recognizes and commemorates businessmen and industrialists who uphold the highest ethical practices in business, each year.
Constituted in 1988, these awards are judged on 8 vital parameters, including customer satisfaction, employee motivation, environmental protection and corporate social responsibility, among others.
Each year, the awards are presented to the most deserving Manufacturing, Trade, Service Enterprises and Charitable Organizations. The criteria for selection include customer satisfaction, customer communication, employee motivation, supply chain system, environment protection, corporate social responsibility, compliance with laws and adherence to the Code of Conduct of the CFBP.
This year, the awards were conferred to the winners in the presence of Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Railways and Girish Bapat, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Food and Drugs Administration, Parliamentary Affairs.
The 2016 award winners were selected by an independent panel of judges headed by Justice B.N. Srikrishna, Former Justice, Supreme Court of India. Other jury members include CFBP President – Kalpana Munshi, Vineet Bhatnagar, Chairman, Awards Committee, Swapnil Kothari, Co-Chairman, Awards Committee other Executive Committee Members.
Shekhar Bajaj, Founding member CFBP & Chairman Bajaj Electricals said,“It is imperative for enterprises to uphold and adhere to ethical business practices. As an entity, we take pride in being a self-regulating authority, working for the benefit of all stakeholders, especially the end consumer. We congratulate all the winners of CFBP 2016 Awards and thank them for setting high standards in their respective areas for others to follow.”
Commenting on the occasion Kalpana Munshi, President CFBP said, “Together we shall create wonders towards consumer movement.”

Council of Fair Business Practices (CFBP)
CFBP was established in 1966 by stalwarts of business & industry like J.R.D. Tata, Ramkrishna Bajaj, Arvind Mafatlal, F.T.Khorakiwala, Naval Tata, S.P. Godrej, J.N.Guzder, and Keshub Mahindra and others who recognized the imperative need of business and industry to regulate itself.
CFBP undertakes a wide spectrum of initiatives to further its mission, which includes conducting public seminars on key consumer issues. It serves as a bridge between the manufacturers & consumers for promotion of good business relationship. Its membership includes businessmen, professionals & consumers.
Ramkrishna Bajaj CFBP Consumer Education and Testing Centre
The SNDT Women’s University has set up this Centre in collabo ration with the Council. It carries out chemical and micro- biological analysis of food products like ice creams, bottled water etc. Here Samplescan come from local markets or from consumers, can be tested for quality and purity. NABL approved.
Consumer Affairs Cells
CFBPencourages business houses and trade associations to start consumer affairs cells within their own organizations. 100 such cells have already been set up in leading companies.
Rotary international district 3141 & 3142, Film Federation of India, Indian School of Management & Entrepreneurship and Niki Hingad Art Foundation and Smt. MaltiDahanukar Trust have join hands with CFBP to promote and participate in CFBP activities in various fields.
