Introduction

The Quad is a partnership not only among governments, but among our people – and none more so than the next generation. The Quad is committed to fostering future STEM innovators to build the foundations of tomorrow’s successes today.

Quad STEM Fellowship

Quad leaders are proud to announce that the first class of diverse, dynamic, and inspiring Quad fellows will begin their studies in the United States in August 2023.

Announced on September 24, 2021, the Quad Fellowship sponsors 100 American, Australian, Indian, and Japanese students to study in the United States each year for graduate studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Administered by Schmidt Futures, the Quad Fellowship brings our four countries closer together by empowering exceptional STEM graduate students to advance research and innovation throughout their careers and across the Indo-Pacific.

In future years the Quad Fellowship is expected to expand to include educational and professional opportunities in Australia, India, and Japan, as we continue to grow the ties among our next generation of innovators.

What is the Quad STEM Fellowship?

The Quad STEM Fellowship is a program that sponsors 100 American, Australian, Indian, and Japanese students to study in the United States each year for graduate studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Why was the Quad STEM Fellowship created?

The Quad STEM Fellowship was created to foster future STEM innovators and to build the foundations of tomorrow’s successes today. The Quad is committed to promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and the Quad STEM Fellowship is a key part of that commitment.

Who is eligible for the Quad STEM Fellowship?

To be eligible for the Quad STEM Fellowship, students must:

  • Be a citizen of Australia, India, Japan, or the United States
  • Have been accepted to a full-time graduate program in STEM at a U.S. university
  • Have a strong academic record
  • Demonstrate leadership potential

What are the benefits of the Quad STEM Fellowship?

The Quad STEM Fellowship provides a number of benefits to students, including:

Full tuition and fees
A living stipend
Health insurance
A laptop computer
A one-year mentorship program
The opportunity to participate in a variety of professional development activities

The application process for the Quad STEM Fellowship is open now. To apply, students must submit an online application, a personal statement, letters of recommendation, and transcripts.
