Welspun Flooring Limited, a fully integrated and independent flooring vertical of USD 2.7 billion Welspun Group, has become the first company in the world to be awarded certification under the new Zero Waste Standard implemented by SCS Global Services – a global leader in third-party environmental and sustainability certification services.
The company’s manufacturing facility in Telangana has achieved 98% diversion of waste from landfills enabled by a sustainability-focused waste management strategy consisting of recycling, waste reclamation, co-processing (including waste-to-energy), composting, and storage.
SCS Global Services is a global leader in third-party environmental and sustainability verification, certification, auditing, testing, and standards development. An independent audit involving an on-site inspection by SCS revealed the extent to which Welspun Flooring’s waste streams are prevented, reused, or diverted from the landfill.
Based on the findings of the audit, Welspun Flooring was given a certification, underscoring the company’s efforts to become better stewards of facility waste management in line with Welspun Group’s ESG goals.
