JHARSUGUDA : As a part of its continuing effort to promote and inculcate safety consciousness among the plant personnel, the 44th National Safety week was observed at the premises of Vedanta’s Sesa Sterlite Jharsuguda business unit. The theme was “Build a safety culture for sustainable supply chain”. The weeklong observation began on 23rd Feb 2015 and was concluded today on 4th March 2015, on National safety Day.
During the occasion, various safety related programmes were conducted wherein all the plant personnel along with the employees of partner agencies took part.At the closing day event, held today, safety badges were distributed and Safety pledges both in Oriya & English were administered. Mr.Santosh Srivastava, Head Fire and Safety, Plant II gave the Welcome Speech and highlighted various safety measures practiced in the Plant premises during the last year. Mr. Abani Kanta Naik, Deputy Director of Factories & Boiler, Sambalpur Division graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Naik appreciated Vedanta’s efforts for the reduction of industrial accident rate near to zero percent in its premises. He also acknowledged the effort of every plant personnel for sustaining the safety culture in their respective work areas
His advise was to maintain the same spirit for further years.Mr. Dayanidhi Behera, Head Smelter I, Mr. KA Chowdary, Head Smelter II, Mr. Umesh Mehta, Head Commercial Operation and Dr. Rajeev Nayan,Head Business HR graced the occasion as the dignitaries among others. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Behera and Mr. Chowdary stressed that Safety is not only the management’s responsibility; it is the responsibility of all individuals. Everyone must follow the safety practices religiously.
Various Prizes were given away to the winners under various categories, among the employees and associated partners. Mr. Harshvardhan Pandey gave the vote of thanks to the attendees and Mrs. Shahana Majumdar coordinated the whole event gracefully.
