LANJIGARH: To build awareness about occupational health and safety, 47th National Safety Week was observed at Vedanta Ltd., Lanjigarh.
The program was inaugurated on 01st March and continued till 14th March with the national theme ‘Reinforce positive behavior at the workplace to achieve safety and health goals’.
The Lanjigarh Greenfield Alumina Refinery is India’s only refinery to adopt a Zero Waste & Zero Discharge technology. The company’s strong adherence to Zero Harm practices has ensured the highest level of HSE standards to make the workplace better and safe.
On the closing ceremony held yesterday, Asst. Director Factories and Boilers, Bhawanipatna zone Er. Swadhin Kumar Behera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the event and appreciated the efforts of Vedanta for achieving a Zero LTI and Zero Fatality year.
He also acknowledged the determination of the unit for promoting the culture of safety at the workplace. Sanjeev Kumar – Head Operations, Misbah Uddin Khan – Chief Safety Officer, Rajeev Ranjan – Head Security, Mahendra Raut – Head HR, Anil Rai – Head Logistics, and S Sasikumar – Head Production among other senior management were also present on the occasion.
Sanjeev Kumar highlighted important Safety practices inside the plant premises and urged everyone to continue following safety SOPs and guidelines.
A safety march preceded the ceremony which involved all Vedanta employees and partner agencies to build awareness on safety among the workers and laborers inside the plant premises. At the outset, the guests visited the ‘Safety Equipment Exhibition’ hosted by the company showcasing the technology and safety perspective of the unit.
The winners of the internally organized competitions were awarded during the programme. In the programme spanning a fortnight, multiple safety awareness campaigns like Mock Drill – Rescue Operation, Safety Campaigns and innovative skits etc. were also organized.
The observation of 47th national safety week was coordinated by the Safety Department, led by Atif Hussain.
