MUMBAI (India CSR): Union Bank of India marked Hindi Diwas with a grand celebration at the Y B Chavan Auditorium in Nariman Point, Mumbai, on October 7, 2024. The event was graced by A. Manimekhalai, MD & CEO, along with Sanjay Rudra, Executive Director, and Chandra Mohan Minocha, Chief General Manager (HR).
Promoting Hindi and Innovation
In her address, A. Manimekhalai emphasized the importance of Hindi and regional languages in improving customer service. She remarked, “Union Bank of India remains committed to fostering inclusivity by promoting the use of Hindi and local languages. Language plays a pivotal role in delivering better customer service and connecting with the public.”
She also announced the launch of the ‘Union Sakshar’ Literacy Campaign, an initiative under the bank’s CSR program to enhance financial literacy across the country. Additionally, the bank introduced a special comic book titled “Jhatpat Loan” and regional booklets in Telugu, Bangla, and Malayalam as part of the Vyavaharit Bhasha Gyan Series.
Recognizing Contributions
As part of the celebrations, Union Bank of India presented awards to employees who demonstrated outstanding efforts in promoting the use of Hindi in the workplace. Winners of nine Hindi competitions, held during Hindi Fortnight, were also honored during the event.
Cultural Performances and Kavi Sammelan
The celebration ended on a lighter note with a Hasya Kavi Sammelan, featuring well-known poets Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Bawra, Dr. Rajnikant Mishra, Rakesh Tiwari, and Priyesh Sinha. Staff members also entertained the audience with song and dance performances, adding a cultural touch to the day.
