New Delhi – UN-Global Compact Network India (UN-GCNI) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), held its 9 Annual ‘Subir Raha Memorial Lecture’ to honor the memory of Subir Raha, a corporate visionary leader, founder president and former Chairman & Managing Director of UN-GCNI, on Friday (5 Jul).
Padma Bhushan, Kirit Parikh made a pitch for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for the lecture and emphasized the pivotal role of corporate sectors in achieving SDG identified by the United Nations.
“The production methods and processes can make large contributions to sustainable development”, Kirit Parikh, Former Member, Planning Commission, Government of India, Chairman of Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe) said.
“Corporate have unique advantages of resources of finance and skilled manpower, which can not only help plan the interventions better but also implement them effectively” he further added.
Active since 2000, Global Compact Network India (GCNI) as the Indian arm of United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) has been providing a vibrant platform to Indian companies.
UN-GCNI is also complementing 17 UN-SDG and working hand in hand with Governments.
ONGC is actively pursuing the UN-SDG through its social and environmental interventions.
Over 400 people from diverse institutions and sectors like Corporate, Civil Society Organizations, UN Agencies and Business Schools including students from various Universities and Institutions attended the program.
