SLB India’s CSR initiative, with Thinksharp Foundation, has transformed Lohegaon’s School No. 1 and No. 2. Once in disrepair, these schools, serving 600 students, now boast modern facilities, vibrant classrooms, and safer spaces, inspiring brighter futures.
PUNE (India CSR): School No. 1 and School No. 2 in Lohegaon, serving 600 students (300 girls and 300 boys) from grades 1 to 7, have undergone a remarkable transformation thanks to SLB India’s CSR initiative, implemented by Thinksharp Foundation. Previously in disrepair with broken windows, damaged play equipment, leaking roofs, and inadequate facilities, the schools faced declining student attendance due to poor infrastructure.
SLB India, through its CSR initiative, renovated and upgraded the schools. The extensive repairs included fixing bathrooms for both boys and girls, installing new doors and washbasins, repairing leaking roofs in classrooms and restrooms, and equipping each classroom with four tube lights and two fans.
Five water filters were installed for clean drinking water, and three water storage tanks were set up to ensure a sufficient water supply. Damaged play equipment was repaired, significantly improving student attendance. A digital classroom equipped with the syllabus from Grades 1 to 7 was established, featuring an interactive panel that functions like a blackboard. A STEM lab was set up for science practical’s, allowing students to perform hands-on experiments.
Each classroom was also outfitted with two curriculum-related acrylic boards. Safety enhancements included the installation of handrails on staircases, and the entire school building was freshly painted with child-friendly wall art to create a lively atmosphere.
A wire fence was installed along the compound wall for added safety, and the school playground was restored for children to play. Reading corners were set up in every classroom to encourage additional reading, and a kitchen garden was created. This wide range of physical infrastructure improvements and learning enhancements was made through CSR support of SLB India and were implemented by Thinksharp Foundation.
