BANGALORE: On the occasion of World Environment Day, 30 Tesco Bengaluru employees visited the Gandhipuram Government School. This school is the latest addition to Tesco’s school adoption model – a part of their corporate social responsibility programme.
Employees conducted theme-based activities for the school children around:
- Promoting the use of paper bags instead of plastic bags
- Encouraging children to ‘re-use’ by teaching them how to make pen stands & piggy banks with used plastic bottles
- Promoting environmental awareness through a drawing competition on environment-related topics
Tesco Bengaluru has had a continuing association with Gandhipuram Village. Employees have partnered with the residents to conduct cleanliness drives and afforestation drives. Tesco Bengaluru has also installed solar lights in the village for sustainable light in its public spaces.
