WEST BOKARO: Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division has set up a ‘Water Filtration Plant’ at Banji village under Mandu Block of Ramgarh district with an objective to provide safe drinking water to the people.

This project was dedicated to the villagers today by Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Manager, West Bokaro Division, Tata Steel in the presence of Mohan Mahato, President, Rastriya Colliery Mazdoor Sangh (RSMS) and Mr Nirankush Mishra, Secretary, RCMS; Sanak Ghosh, Chief, Quarry AB, West Bokaro, Tata Steel; Anand Kumar, Chief, Special Projects, West Bokaro, Tata Steel; Sarita Devi, Vice Chairman, Zilla Parisad and Kanchan Kumari, up-pramukh, Mandu block.

To make safe and piped drinking water available to the villagers, the steel major has installed a Water Filtration Plant along with pipeline across the village with 375 tap points that will supply 4 lakh litre water daily to around 1875 persons in the village.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said, “Providing safe drinking water to villages for a healthy life has always been the thrust area for Tata Steel. I am sure that this filtration project will ensure sustainable supply of adequate and good quality water in the village”.

The filtration plant will supply potable water to the villagers after treating the water at various stages including sedimentation, coagulation, water softening and water chlorination. This water filtration plant along with the allied infrastructure will cater to the long standing need of the villagers for clean water for domestic use.

Also present on the occasion were Amitabh Chandra Jha, Head, HRM, Tata Steel; Mahattam Prasad, Head, Project, Tata Steel; Yodheswar Bhokta, District Vice President, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha; Achita Devi, Mukhia, Banji village and Keshav Kumar Ranjan, Unit Head, Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) along with other senior officials of Tata Steel and Tata Steel Rural Development Society.
