Dhenkanal/Odisha – Tata Steel BSL (erstwhile Bhushan Steel Ltd) has built a 5.3 km-long cement concrete road connecting NH-55 to 8 villages around its plant at Narendrapur in Dhenkanal district of Odisha, a media release said.
The road built at a cost of around Rs 5.5 crore is expected to benefit over 10,000 villagers living in Talabahal, Ganthigadia, Sarpa, Raghunathpur, Badibahal, Khaliberena, Kankalu and Paikapurunakote located around the plant.
The road also has a 1 km long drain along its side.
Company’s Managing Director (MD) Rajeev Singhal along with a local MLA and other Tata Steel officials were present at the time of the inauguration.
“Tata Steel BSL’s commitment is for inclusive growth of the region through many such socio-economic interventions,” Singhal said.
Among other initiatives, the company is currently running a mobile primary healthcare service, training farmers on modern agricultural practices. It has recently constructed a model school and helping on development of education infrastructure in the villages.
