Khopoli – Tata Steel BSL has launched a campaign to impart self-defence training to the girls of local villages near its plant located at Sarvoli under Raigad district of Maharastra in association with the District Administration.
Aimed at empowering girl students, the first training session was oragnised at Sarnobat Netaji Palkar Sabhagruh Tehshildar office Khalapur today to mark the 160th birth anniversary of Sir Dorabji Tata, the first chairman of our parent company Tata Steel who was instrumental in setting up the first steel plant of Asia in Jamshedpur. Around 200 adolescent girls of Swami Vivekanand High School, Khalapur participated in it, company statement said.
Mumbai based NGO Swayamsidha, involved in such training for long, has been roped in by the steel major for support.
The training will be given every quarter to empower adolescent girls of schools of Savroli and Devnahave gram panchayats, Khalapur and Khopoli Nagar ParisadS of Riagad district in coming few months.
Besides as the NGO has also expertise in the field of career counselling, personality development, organizing motivational talk sessions, the girls will also get benefit of these services.
