Let’s think, plan and act towards how we can collectively build a more sustainable future for all people and the planet. We are in the right time where we actually believe in an inclusive, diverse world where nobody is left behind.

Businesses have global responsibility, not just to their shareholders, customers and employees, but to the countries where they work in, and the world where their own generations have been living.

The global catastrophe is already happening. Climate change is already a matter of life and death across the globe.  The burning question we need to ask ourselves is – Can we do something about it?

It is imperative for business to adopt a philosophy ‘we believe we can and we must’. Every company to become a more sustainable company, is a great responsibility. Every day must be better and brighter as compared to the past one. Every operation must be more efficient as compared to the previous one. Every decision must be more responsible as compared to the old one.

Every business must ask frequently, “Are we doing to better care for our people as well as our planet?” Businesses would need to work to build our world more connected, more creative, more solutions and more opportunities to work.

Rusen Kumar

Economic prosperity and ecological harmony is possible, if we both the individual and the collective will to take meaningful decisions. Businesses must believe in improving the lives of people and nurturing our planet, which should go hand in hand. Every business urgently identifies its core business as well as core impact to people and planet.

Connected, educated and learned people collectively make a safer environment and healthier planet.

In this way technology can complement in solving the global climate challenges that humanity faces. Technology innovation plays a key role in achieving a more sustainable planet and better, healthier lives. Businesses need both the individual and the collective will to take the right decisions and follow through on ambitions for an improved world.

Businesses also open their door and are always eager to work with external forces and individuals who can bring diverse technology and new ideas to their business. Innovation will drive the creation of many solutions to today’s challenges and opportunities.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) certainly will be empowered by 5G and will provide the spark that lights a revolution of change. Corporate world should focus on the human benefits of technologies. Technology can improve the lives but it should not impact the human decision. Technology should not control internal decision algorithm of humans.

Business would need to look at impact, scope, focus areas, and targets for their sustainability roadmap. Business would also require to analyze and review on a regular basis the economic, environmental and social value that they can create throughout their value chain.

By increasing the energy efficiency of processes; reducing carbon emissions, helping in making operations sustainable; and building the technologies of the future that improve people’s lives, protecting the environment and conserving natural resources, by these means companies can become a sustainable company.
