Film Director Rahul Bhatnagar makes his comeback in the comedy genre with his new short film ‘Dahej ka scooter’. A joint project by FNP Media and Natak Pictures, the short film has gained significant recognition as the official winner and selection at three international short film festivals, this year. It will be released officially in the upcoming year, 2021.
Filled with shaadi feels, ‘Dahej ka scooter’ is about a bizarre wedding ritual that revolves around an age old hideous scooter. It is a story that is aimed at taking the audience through the bitter sweet journey of a young couple from their courtship into their D-day (wedding day) and at the end explicit the value of family traditions, no matter how weird or embarrassing those turn out to be.
Expressing his views on the film, Rahul Bhatnagar, Film Director and Writer says, “Our idea, plot, and message for the short were simple- to showcase the value of family traditions. The film builds up with the tension between the bride and the groom-to-be and melts down to a simple and sweet message around the power of love, unity and family values.”
He adds, “We are extremely honoured to have our short film liked and appreciated at the film festivals. It has been truly encouraging.”
The short film has received recognition for the ‘Best Comedy Short’ at the Mumbai International Cult Film Festival 2020, and ‘Best Screenplay’ at the 9th Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival 2020. The film has also made its official selection at the International Film Festival of Shimla.
Film actress (lead) Tanya Singh, playing the soon-to-be-bride Pihu in the short film, has also been recognized as ‘Best Actor in Comic Role’ at the Mumbai International Cult Film Festival 2020. ‘Dahej Ka Scooter’ was her third short film project with Rahul Bhatnagar; her first being Natak Pictures’ popular short film ‘Unarranged’.
Playing the lead (male) role is Keshav Sadhna, a popular OTT actor. Ravina Singh, also an OTT artist is playing the role of ‘Rimmy’ Pihu’s best friend. Sandhya Singh and Mahesh Gehlot are experienced actors playing the role of Nakul’s parents. The simple plot of the film has been strongly magnetized by its background score, composed by Sanjoy Daz and Ambar Das. The aesthetics of the entire film have been ensured by Sunayana Singh, film DOP.
