RANCHI: Samiti for Education, Environment, Social and Health Action (SEESHA) inaugurated its new branch office and training centre at State Plaza, Old Hazaribaag Road, in the city of Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Dr. Jeyakumar Daniel, Executive Director of SEESHA, presided over the inauguration ceremony. Solomon John – Social Worker, Pradeep Failbus – Project Manager, SEESHA North India, Mr. D.J. Edwin – Senior Manager, SEESHA, and other members of Jesus Calls and SEESHA were also present at ceremony.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. Jeyakumar Daniel stated that the non-profit organisation (headquartered in Chennai) works towards the holistic development of communities in 16 States of India through education, environment, health and livelihood initiatives. The branch office of SEESHA in Ranchi will be the nodal centre for the 3 communities which are part of SEESHA’s Community Advancement Programme in the city. The communities are: Banas Talab (now relocated to Rugdigada), Ravidas Mohalla (Kanta Toli), and Dangratoli.
SEESHA undertakes women empowerment initiatives in these communities through formation of self-help groups and distribution of widow pension, in addition to free training in computer and tailoring. Over 400 children from these communities also avail free coaching through tuition centres and receive educational scholarships and school kits every year.
