NEW DELHI (India CSR): In a significant achievement for corporate social responsibility, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India, has completed life-saving heart surgeries for 20 children suffering from congenital heart disease (CHD). This milestone was achieved as part of SECL’s CSR project “SECL Ki Dhadkan,” an initiative that provides free healthcare to children from economically disadvantaged families within SECL’s operational areas across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Targeted Support in SECL’s Operational Regions
The initiative’s primary focus is on children in SECL’s coalfield areas, including districts like Raigarh, Korba, Bilaspur, and Sarguja in Chhattisgarh, as well as Shahdol and Umaria in Madhya Pradesh. These areas often lack accessible healthcare facilities, and families here face considerable economic challenges. SECL’s “SECL Ki Dhadkan” program provides these families with essential medical care, enabling early diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for congenital heart disease.
“This program has given us the opportunity to reach out to the communities we operate in and make a genuine impact on their lives,” shared an SECL spokesperson. “Seeing the positive changes in these children’s lives reaffirms our commitment to addressing healthcare disparities.”
Collaboration with Shri Satya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital
A critical part of the program’s success is SECL’s partnership with Shri Satya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Raipur, where these surgeries were performed. This collaboration ensures that children receive high-quality care at no cost to their families.
To celebrate the successful surgeries, SECL hosted a “Gift of Life” event on October 25, 2024, at the hospital, where the young patients were honored and encouraged for a healthy future. The event emphasized SECL’s dedication to sustainable community welfare.
“Good health is a right, not a privilege. SECL Ki Dhadkan aims to make quality healthcare accessible to the most vulnerable,” the spokesperson added. Through this initiative, SECL continues to bridge healthcare gaps and contribute to long-term, equitable development across its operational regions.
