MUMBAI: At the Skill India Exhibition held in Kanpur today, Rustomjee Group alongside other major organizations signed a memorandum of understanding with The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) where Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the country’s first ever Indian Institute of Skills in Kanpur. At the conference, Rustomjee Group signed a memorandum of understanding with NSDC to skill 10,000 employees working in the construction sector. These employees would undertake special projects at International Migration Centres to train 5,000 construction workers, training them to service international markets and set up centres of excellence.
At the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Kaushal Pradarshani (Skill Exhibition) for the youth and also launched a number of skill development initiatives including Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras and Drivers’ Training Institutes. The exhibition showcased state-of-the-art vocational training practices across different sectors and strategic partnerships with various industries. The Prime Minister also inaugurated Indian Institute of Skills in Kanpur, which aims to train unemployed youth and make them self-reliant. As a part of the initiative, 4 RPL (Recognition of Prior learning) students from four different sector skill councils will be awarded certificates by the Prime Minister. They also inaugurated a 765 and 400 KV power grids in Kanpur to provide better electricity facility across Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Boman R. The event also witnessed joint partnerships with various industries that will train and employ nearly four lakh youth over the next 3 years.
Rustomjee Academy for Global Careers (RAGC), established in 2008, is a Rustomjee Group CSR initiative and a part of the Rustomjee Knowledge City Private Limited. RAGC is a provider of vocational education with an objective to make India “the capital of skilled manpower” by enlightening, empowering, and engaging the underprivileged youth with vocational skills and employment opportunities.

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, is a public private partnership with a mandate to train 150 million people by 2022. NSDC has a partner network of 290 training organization with more than 5000 training centers spread across 550+ districts across the country.
