Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been the highest tax payer with the company contributing more than Rs 1,35,468 crore to the national exchequer in FY 2020-21.
The company contribution to national exchequer was over Rs 1,15,461 crore in previous. During the year it emersed as first telecom company in India and second in the world to cross 400 million subscribers.
Despite unprecedented challenges, the company continued to execute on its growth plans across businesses. It recorded a consolidated net profit of Rs. 53,739 crore (US$7.4 billion) during the year, registering a growth of 34.8% y-o-y.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
The company CSR expenditure during the year was Rs. 1,140 crores (Rs. 1,022 crores in FY 2019-20), complying CSR Law under Companies Act, 2013.
Company emerged as highest direct and indirect tax payer of customs and excise duty in the private sector, the company’s annual report revealed.
During the pandemic year the company created over 75,000 new jobs, report said. The company hired over 50,000 people.
Company which has 2,36,334 employees has invested Rs. 2,572 crores (Rs 2,538 crore, 2019-20) in R&D, having over 900 researchers and scientists.
It has planted Mangrove in over 875 acres area.
