Recognition highlights his work connecting public health, climate action and environmental sustainability
NEW DELHI (India CSR): Prof Ravi Bhatnagar of Reckitt has been honoured with the prestigious Net Zero Public Leadership Award for his contribution to environmental sustainability, public wellbeing and climate action in India. Prof Bhatnagar serves as Director of Corporate Communications and Corporate Affairs for South Asia, MENARP and Africa at Reckitt, the company said.
He received the honour during the flagship Net Zero Hour Summit and Awards in New Delhi. Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India, presented the award in the presence of environmentalists, policymakers, business leaders and clean-energy advocates.
Leadership Connecting Health and Sustainability
Prof Bhatnagar was recognised for advancing the connection between public health and environmental sustainability. His work has focused on building awareness, mobilising communities and encouraging partnerships across sectors. These efforts seek to support India’s climate commitments and sustainable development priorities. His leadership approach brings together businesses, public institutions, civil society organisations and communities. It also recognises that environmental progress directly affects health and human wellbeing. The award acknowledges his sustained advocacy for responsible development and collective climate action.
Advancing Collaborative Climate Action
India’s transition to a low-carbon economy requires cooperation among government, industry, communities and development organisations. Prof Bhatnagar’s work has contributed to this collaborative approach. His initiatives have promoted partnerships designed to deliver environmental and public-health benefits. Such partnerships are important because climate change is not only an environmental challenge. It also affects healthcare, livelihoods, nutrition, sanitation and community resilience. By connecting these issues, public leaders can encourage more integrated responses.
Recognising Public Leadership
The Net Zero Public Leadership Award honours individuals whose work influences public action and sustainable development. Prof Bhatnagar’s recognition reflects the growing importance of leadership that connects corporate responsibility with national development priorities. It also underlines the need to place people at the centre of climate action. Clean energy, lower emissions and environmental protection remain vital. However, their long-term success depends on public participation, institutional trust and community ownership.
Inspiring a Climate-Resilient Future
The Integrated Health and Wellbeing Council’s Net Zero Hour initiative promotes the intersection of health, climate policy and clean energy. By recognising public leaders, the initiative aims to establish benchmarks and encourage wider participation in India’s sustainability movement. Prof Ravi Bhatnagar’s honour highlights how corporate and public leadership can work together to advance environmental awareness, healthier communities and climate resilience. The recognition also reinforces a simple message: India’s net-zero journey will require strong leadership, shared responsibility and sustained public engagement.
