NEW DELHI: Western Coalfield Limited (WCL) a subsidiary company of Coal India Limited has contributed Rs. 6,06,47,945/- for relief and rehabilitation measures in Uttrakhand. A Demand Draft for the amount collected through voluntary contribution of employees was handed over to Shri Shriprakash Jaiswal, Union Minister of Coal, by Shri D. C. Garg CMD WCL along with the representatives of trade unions and officers association in the presence of Shri S. K. Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Coal and Shri S. Narsing Rao, Chairman, CIL here on July 8, 2013.
On the occasion Coal Minister appreciated the noble gesture of WCL, he said that CIL and other coal companies have shown that they can rise to the occasion to help the people in need. Earlier CIL and BCL have also made contribution of Rs. 50 Crore and 27 crore respectively for Uttrakhand relief measures.
