In this article, we will take a closer look at the cobot demonstrations at IMTEX and the UR+ ecosystem, which offers a wide range of tools and components to enhance the capabilities of UR cobots.

Universal Robots (UR), the global leader in collaborative robots (cobots), showcased cobots for diverse industry applications and scenarios, at the Indian Machine Tool Expo 2023 (IMTEX), held from January 19th to 25th, at the International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru, India, provided an opportunity for visitors to see in-person the capabilities of UR cobots and how they can improve efficiency and safety in manufacturing and assembly environments.

Cobot Demonstrations

Experience the future of manufacturing with our live cobot demonstrations, showcasing the capabilities and efficiency of collaborative robots in various industrial settings.

UR3e

India CSR

The UR3e is a compact and versatile cobot designed for light assembly applications in tight workplaces such as bench-tops or inside machinery. With a payload capacity of up to 3 kg and a small footprint of only 128 mm, the UR3e is able to maneuver in confined spaces while still being able to handle a variety of tasks.

UR5e

India CSR

The UR5e is a versatile and agile cobot, weighing in at only 5 kg, that can handle medium-duty tasks with unparalleled flexibility. Equipped with a screw-driving end-effector, it can handle the entire process of screw pick up and insertion. It also has the ability to detect missing screws and communicate the status of screw insertion to human co-workers.

UR10e

India CSR

The UR10e is a highly versatile cobot, with a payload capacity of up to 12.5 kg and a long reach of 1,300 mm, thanks to its 6-axis robot arm. This makes it well-suited for a wide range of repetitive tasks across various industries. At the demonstration, UR showcased how the UR10e was fitted with a gripper to automate material handling tasks, such as picking up and moving heavy objects. The robot’s ability to handle heavy payloads and reach long distances makes it ideal for tasks such as loading and unloading large items in warehouses, or assembling components in manufacturing facilities. The UR10e’s advanced programming capabilities allow it to easily adapt to different tasks and work seamlessly alongside human co-workers, making it an excellent choice for companies looking to automate repetitive tasks and increase efficiency.

UR16e

India CSR

The UR16e handles an exceptional payload of 16 kg, especially useful for carrying heavy arm tooling and can lift multiple parts in a single pick, achieving higher efficiency by reducing cycle times. At IMTEX, UR16e demonstrated how the cobot can accomplish the job of machine tending at a level of performance comparable to a human worker.

UR+ ecosystem

UR+ is the world’s first ecosystem of 300 partners providing a vast portfolio of innovative components, end-effectors, accessories and software. Customers can easily seek out the right tool, that seamlessly integrates with their UR cobots, for their unique and evolving business needs.

Universal Robots aims to empower change in the way work is done using its leading-edge robotics platform. Since introducing the worldโ€™s first commercially viable collaborative robot (cobot) in 2008, UR has developed a product portfolio including the UR3e, UR5e, UR10e, UR16e and UR20, reflecting a range of reaches and payloads. Each model is supported by a wide selection of end-effectors, software, accessories and services to support diverse industry applications.

India CSR Review

It was exciting to see how the UR cobots can improve efficiency and safety in manufacturing and assembly environments, and it is clear that UR is at the forefront of the industry in India. UR’s focus on human-robot collaboration and safety is commendable, with the cobots featuring power and force limiting characteristics that ensure safe working environments. Furthermore, it is great to see UR’s emphasis on empowering change in the way work is done, with the cobots capable of automating monotonous and repetitive tasks, freeing up workers for more value-added activities.
