LANJIGARH: Vedanta’s ‘Cataract-free Lanjigarh’ pledge sees the company re-launch its cataract surgery campaign just before the beginning of the New Year.
46 patients from various villages in Lanjigarh region such as the Niyamgiri Vedanta Nagar, Champadeipur, Rajapada, Kapaguda, Kasibadi, Tangankana, Lanjigarh, Bhataguda, Bhimpur, Kendguda, Albahali, Gandhani, Trilochanpur, Sergehju and Pratappur were brought into an eye-camp organized at the Vedanta Hospital, Lanjigarh for a round of initial checkups.
The surgery campaign is being organized by the Vedanta Hospital in partnership with a health service NGO – Punarutthan and the Lepra Eye Hospital, Junagarh.
After necessary health check-ups, the patients are now scheduled to be operated at the Lepra Eye hospital at Junagarh, according to an official from Vedanta Hospital.
The campaign was flagged off by Ajay Kumar Dixit – CEO Alumina & Power and Bimalananda Senapati – COO, Vedanta Lanjigarh in presence of Jalaj Malpani – Chief Finance Officer, Rajeev Ranjan – Head Security, Harmeet Sehra – Head CSR, Dr. Akshaya Kumar Sahoo – Chief Medical Officer along with the staffs of Vedanta hospital and company employees. All the patients were provided quilts by the company senior officials during the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Kumar Dixit has said that the company takes pride in being a part of various community development initiatives and is committed to take further efforts to strengthen the CSR activities in the region.
Bimalananda Senapati reiterated the efforts of the company towards betterment of the basic health services in and around Lanjigarh, a necessity more than anything else. It is noteworthy that 298 patients have already been cured in the earlier phases of cataract operation camps last year.
The recently enrolled patients now feel positive about the New Year ahead of them as they see a ray of hope through such a campaign in their region.
