PUNE: MIT World Peace University has for the first time introduced a masters degree course in business administration in corporate social responsibility (CSR) keeping in mind the growing demand for professionals in the field.
The course has been developed by International Institute of Corporate Social Responsibility (IICSR) for MIT.
Harsha Mukherjee, founder and managing director of IICSR, said, “Companies across the country have scaled up their efforts, especially after coming under the purview of the mandatory CSR initiatives as part of the Companies Act (amended ) in 2014.”
She added, “More than 8,000 companies fall in this group and each of them needs to hire CSR professionals for their operations. CSR spending has seen a 28% increase in the last financial year.”
“There is a towering gap for CSR professionals with a burgeoning number of over 2 lakh workforce. Under such circumstances, the future prospects in a CSR career would be much rewarding,” Mukherjee said.
The MIT World Peace University’s PG programme will begin from this year and will be of two-year duration. Graduates with work experience would be preferred and the course fee would be Rs 2.40 lakh.
